Stepping Stones is a small New York state licensed preschool providing a hands-on approach to learning for children two years and nine months to six years old.

Centrally located in downtown Ithaca, just minutes from Cornell University and Ithaca College, Stepping Stones is within walking distance to the library, post office, fire station, playgrounds, and parks. Our location allows us opportunities to take spontaneous field trips and enjoy all that downtown Ithaca has to offer.

Teacher to student ratio is 1:7 providing many opportunities for 1:1 lessons.

Traditional Montessori Curriculum is enriched by music, American Sign Language and art.

The classroom environment is bright and open, and the school has both indoor and outdoor play areas. An indoor play area allows for gross motor and imaginary play in cold, wet weather. We go outside rain or shine unless it's below 10 degrees F.

The outdoor play area includes mud kitchen, sandbox, and an area for climbing, digging, basketball, hopscotch and more!

The class takes frequent trips to nearby parks.

We use the Brightwheel Child Care Management app. It provides parents with pictures, videos, and notes in real time, so they can be informed and connected to their child's day.
