Established in 2003, Stepping Stones Preschool has maintained an excellent reputation in the heart of the Ithaca community.
In 2016, when Meg Allen and her husband, Alan Loomis, had their son, Archer David, they decided it was time to relocate from Seattle to Ithaca so they could be closer to family. Meg, as owner, director and lead teacher, maintains the school's original mission that includes a focus on respecting one another and the environment, sustainability, and giving back to the community.
The goal is for every child to learn graciousness, kindness, and compassion while instilling a love of learning and independent thought.
Meg was trained at the Spring Valley Teacher Training Montessori School in Federal Way, Washington. After three years working at a Montessori School in downtown Seattle, Meg transferred in 2009 to The University of Washington Children's Center at Radford Court where she applied her love of children and the Montessori philosophy for eight wonderful years.
Stepping Stones Montessori is a warm, safe, nurturing space where children feel they are an equal and important part of their community and where, in accordance with the teachings of Maria Montessori, they facilitate their own learning in a carefully prepared environment that lays the foundation for a life-long love of learning.
