Stepping Stones Montessori was started in 2003 by Marne Honigbaum. In June of 2017, Meg Allen took over as owner, director, and lead teacher. Meg completed her Montessori training at Spring Valley Teacher Training Montessori School in Federal Way, Washington, in 2008. She worked at a Montessori school in downtown Seattle before transferring to the University of Washington Children's Center at Radford Court in 2009, where she applied her love of children and the Montessori philosophy for eight wonderful years.
When Meg and her husband, Alan, had their son, Archer, in 2016, they decided to relocate to Ithaca to be closer to family. Meg will continue Marne's mission that includes a focus on respecting one another and the environment, sustainability, and giving back to the community. The goal is for every child to learn graciousness, kindness, and compassion while instilling a love of learning and independent thought.
